KLC Core membership

The club is a wide front door with a smaller room behind it. You don’t have to pick one to start, and the front door is free forever.

The two layers

The broader group is the whole London homeschool community: no fee, no sign-up. Use the board, put up ideas, come to anything marked for everyone.

KLC Core is the room behind it: families who’ve affirmed the four values and pay a small monthly fee. Both layers share one board; each event just says who it’s for.

What membership opens

The members-only events. Non-members don’t just get turned away from these, they don’t see them at all.

The people details. Names, photos, kids’ ages, who wrote which comment and the exact venue are member detail. Without membership the board is dates, counts and areas of town; with it, it’s people. (Only ever what each family chose to show: membership never reveals anyone who opted to stay unnamed.)

The four values

Joining means ticking these four, out loud, as alignment rather than fine print. They are the whole reason the room behind the door feels like a club:

What it costs

$5 a month, per family, not per child, and pay-what-you-can if that’s tight: $2 a month reduced rate, $5 a month standard rate, $10 a month support rate. Nobody is asked why they picked a rate.

It’s not for profit and pays nobody a wage: the fee covers the texts, the emails and the cost of running this, nothing else. Activities are priced separately, there are always free things on the board, and cost is never the reason a family misses out: say the word to an organiser and it’s sorted, no explanation needed.

Part of KLC already? You join free

KLC families come in on an invite code, shared through the KLC email list, and their membership is covered by KLC: free until further notice. Open the link from the email (or type the code on the Join page), affirm the four values, and give an email address so the membership is recoverably yours. No card, no fee.

Joining, changing your rate, leaving

Everyone else joins from the Join page: affirm the values, pick a rate. Until card payments are switched on, nothing is charged in the app itself; the Join page says so, and an organiser sets your membership up directly. Once payments are live, the same page takes the card and the rate change lives with the subscription.

Leaving is just as plain: cancel any time, your membership runs to the end of what you’ve paid for, and everything you did on the board stays yours. No exit interview.

Next up: When something looks wrong

The board looks empty, you show up as “Someone”, a link never arrived: the fixes.
